Sometimes later in life we can develop health conditions, that we seem to have no clue as to what they really are,what has caused them, or how to deal with them,. especially when they become  annoying or painful.

A myxoid cysts can become one such condition because little attention has been directed at studying these cysts in despite of their frequency, so not much is really known for them in the way of treatment .

Many people will battle them for months or years,but find little or no relief when it comes to dealing with them. When looking for answers across the web one can find  many articles written on what the condition is, but few if any can be found  on using a home treatment, that will actually assist in healing them naturally.


Therefore this article will not be focusing so much on what this condition is, but rather more so on a natural method that has  worked well for me in getting relief and healing in few simple steps. However before I get into the method that I used, let me first give you some of the basic information that is out there on what a myxoid cyst is and how it is treated.

What They Are


A myxoid cyst, also called a digital mucous cyst, is identified by the clear mucous that fills it. It’s a firm, smooth, rounded bump on the skin, often having a bluish tint. Inside, it is filled with clear, sticky, gelatinous fluid. The cysts appear most often on the fingers but can also show up on the toes.

According to many articles, these types of cysts are benign and commonly known as synovial cysts, periarticular fibromas, myxoid cysts, ganglion cysts, mucinous or pseudo cysts,

They appear usually in people who are 60 years old or older, who may have osteoarthritis,and is also thought to be caused by repetitive motion..

How Are They Treated

Doctors treat the area with one of a variety of methods, including freezing, Intralesional steroid injection of cortisone, or multiple incisions and draining but even after treatment they sometimes reoccur.  Quite often, these cysts are asymptomatic and do not require treatment. 

Though people have drained these cysts by themselves and  is still a method of choice, it would be wise  to first  have the growth checked by a doctor before making the initial incision to be sure the growth is actually a myxoid cyst and not some other similar  conditions.

A Simple Step Method

  • . A word of caution  it is important that you know first what kind of cyst you are dealing with, so it is advised that you check with your doctor first before you proceed with this method. 
  • Things you will need for this method : ice cubes, antiseptic, a sterilized needle, cayenne pepper, some water, and band aides. Note that the cayenne pepper will not burn it is actually very healing when applied to sores.
  • First you will need to drain the cyst if it is painful and contains fluid. Freeze the area with an ice cube for a few minutes to numb it. Disinfect the area with antiseptic, then with a sterilized needle break the skin and squeeze out the fluid. Once the fluid is released disinfect the area again with antiseptic to make sure you don`t get an infection.
  • In a small container or spoon take a pinch cayenne pepper and add few drops of water to make a thick paste then  apply it to the cyst .Apply a  bandage  and leave it on for 4-7 days. This is the important part as this is what is not only helping to heal it but it also strips away scar tissue that has begun to form on your cyst over time
  • You should see and feel results within the first few days. Keep the bandage on for 5- 7  days  changing the bandage and applying the cayenne  only when necessary during the first week . After this time you can remove bandage and let the healing process continue.on its own.
  • However it is also important not to soak your cyst in hot water for long periods of time, or to put pressure on the affected finger or toe during the healing process. In doing so it may cause it to fill up with fluid again and the steps will have to be repeated .
  • If it is not healed, repeat the steps  if necessary.  Over time you will notice that the cyst begins to contain less fluid and starts to shrink in size and the old scar tissue will be stripped away  in the healing process.
