Mineral Deficiency And How It Can Affect Your Health

mineral27

Doctors say that 90% of us have some sort of a mineral deficiency which can leave us feeling tired ,cranky and may even be a reason why we are  putting on unwanted pounds.Do you know which minerals are absolutely essential for women`s health? If you guessed iron and calcium you are partly right. And it is important to know a mineral deficiency and how it can affect your health when it creates symptoms

Women require more  than 15 different minerals daily to maintain their immune system and to keep their hearts beating strongly. Yet 90 % of us are deficient in one or more of these essential nutrients and don`t even know it. Experts say that these hidden deficiencies are often what cause many of our annoying health problems that we struggle with, including chronic fatigue, head and body aches, high blood pressure, and even infertility.

Fortunately there are minerals that can help to reverse the shortfalls that are more than likely slowing us down, and we can reap the rewards to better health quickly by adding some of these supplements.

Take in  more Zinc to boost your energy and immunity, plus control acne. Recent surveys reveal that 66% of women aren`t getting enough of this immunity booster. You don`t even need a full blown deficiency to experience symptoms. Even a minor shortage of this mineral can zap  strength ,slow healing and make you more prone  to breakouts.Research also shows that you can suffer from viruses and infections for up to 75% longer.because of a deficiency of this mineral

What you can do. The government recommends 15 mg. of zinc daily, and you can get 5-10 mg  in every serving red meat, dark chicken,or turkey meat, nuts or pumpkin seeds. If you are under a lot of stress, it is recommend by experts to add 15 mg to up your protection . An important note to remember is not to down your calcium supplement at the same time, as studies have shown that calcium cuts the zinc absorption  by 50%.

Up Your Chromium to loose weight and beat fatigue. If you are constantly struggling with weight, or with the daily ups and downs of energy levels , chances are that you may already  have a chromium deficiency.Research shows that  nearly 90% of the people are`t getting even the bare minimum of 50mcgs of chromium day.

What you can do. Studies show that chromium is found in all sorts of foods such as mushrooms, barely, chickpeas , lentils and broccoli  but only if they are gown in chromium rich soil. so there fore doctors recommend a single 200 mcg supplement daily.

Research also shows that that it controls  blood sugar, and food cravings so effectively that women lost 22% of their body fat in within six months.

Iodine to the rescue for fatigue.Statics show that one in 5 women are not getting enough iodine. If you feel tired all the time and are always cold, or have trouble trying to conceive you may be one of them . Iodine is mineral for the thyroid hormone and is an essential building block. It regulates internal temperature , the reproductive cycle, and the rate at which your body converts food into energy. If you are not getting enough you could feel lethargic and chilly.

The USDA recommends 150mcg daily, which is what most people can get by adding iodized table salt to their food. However not all salt is iodized, and most people are now cutting back on table salt thinking they get enough in processed foods but it does not contain the needed iodine. A better choice for iodine is sea salt, but again reading labels are important because some will also  contain no iodine, plus they can  also contain added fillers .

What you can do Look for a  multi -vitamin that contains  the daily value 150 mcg . If you need more consult your doctor because iodine can be toxic in high doses. Another  sources of iodine can be obtained from organic iodine drops found in most health food stores. Note that this is not the same iodine that is used on cuts which is sold in drug stores it is for topical use only  Sources of iodine can also be found a serving of sea foods or kelp. Also it is not recommended to take any  supplements containing iodine if you are on thyroid medication because it will interfere with the medication . Always consult with your physician when in doubt.

Tame Cramps With Potassium. Studies show that this mineral is essential for keeping virtually every cell and organ in the body functioning properly. but when the body is deficient symptoms will range from cramps to irregular heart beats to shortness of breath and even high blood pressure. Most people are deficient in this mineral because of things that strip this precious mineral out of the body with such things like diuretics, ACE inhibitors, beta blockers, caffeine beverages, to heavy of exercise, or chronic diarrhea.

What you can do best ways to boost your potassium is with foods. Eat one serving of rich potassium food daily such as almonds, spinach, cantaloupe, bananas and you should see improvements in as little as one week.

Try Magnesium to feel great You can call it a feel good mineral because it is so involved in the body process that   contributes to overall health and vitality . A shortage of this essential mineral however  can cause a whole host of frustrating symptoms that are often ignored by most  doctors which can include irritability , muscle weakness, migraines,PMS, high blood pressure and even all over aches and pains.

Yet this mineral is surprisingly easy enough to fall short of even though whole grains, nuts, and green vegetables provide it, but only if they are grown in magnesium rich soil. However much of the agricultural land today is virtually devoid in magnesium which makes it necessary to have to supplement  magnesium

Studies also show that eating sweets ,drinking alcohol, and caffeinated  beverages, taking diuretics ,asthma, and  heart drugs can all zap your bodies supply. So it is no surprise that 40% of us don`t even get 75% of our daily value of 400 mg .

What you can do It is recommended by experts to take 400 mg magnesium citrate daily to see results in as little as three months.

Myxoid Cyst A Home Treatment

index

Sometimes later in life we can develop health conditions, that we seem to have no clue as to what they really are, what has caused them, or how to deal with them,. especially when they become  annoying or painful.

A myxoid cysts can become one such condition because little attention has been directed at studying these cysts in despite of their frequency, so not much is really known for them in the way of treatment .

Many people will battle them for months or years, but find little or no relief when it comes to dealing with them. When looking for answers across the web one can find  many articles written on what the condition is, but few if any can be found  on using a home treatment, that will actually assist in healing them naturally.

Therefore this article will not be focusing so much on what this condition is, but rather more so on a natural method that has  worked well for me in getting relief and healing in few simple steps. However before I get into the method that I used, let me first give you some of the basic information that is out there on what a myxoid cyst is and how it is treated.

What They Are

A myxoid cyst, also called a digital mucous cyst, is identified by the clear mucous that fills it. It’s a firm, smooth, rounded bump on the skin, often having a bluish tint. Inside, it is filled with clear, sticky, gelatinous fluid. The cysts appear most often on the fingers but can also show up on the toes.

According to many articles, these types of cysts are benign and commonly known as synovial cysts, periarticular fibromas, myxoid cysts, ganglion cysts, mucinous or pseudo cysts,

They appear usually in people who are 60 years old or older, who may have osteoarthritis, and is also thought to be caused by repetitive motion..

How Are They Treated

Doctors treat the area with one of a variety of methods, including freezing, Intralesional steroid injection of cortisone, or multiple incisions and draining but even after treatment they sometimes reoccur.  Quite often, these cysts are asymptomatic and do not require treatment.

Though people have drained these cysts by themselves and  is still a method of choice, it would be wise  to first  have the growth checked by a doctor before making the initial incision to be sure the growth is actually a myxoid cyst and not some other similar  conditions.

A Simple Step Method

  • . A word of caution  it is important that you know first what kind of cyst you are dealing with, so it is advised that you check with your doctor first before you proceed with this method.
  • Things you will need for this method : ice cubes, antiseptic, a sterilized needle, cayenne pepper, some water, and band aides. Note that the cayenne pepper will not burn it is actually very healing when applied to sores.
  • First you will need to drain the cyst if it is painful and contains fluid. Freeze the area with an ice cube for a few minutes to numb it. Disinfect the area with antiseptic, then with a sterilized needle break the skin and squeeze out the fluid. Once the fluid is released disinfect the area again with antiseptic to make sure you don`t get an infection.
  • In a small container or spoon take a pinch cayenne pepper and add few drops of water to make a thick paste then  apply it to the cyst .Apply a  bandage  and leave it on for 4-7 days. This is the important part as this is what is not only helping to heal it but it also strips away scar tissue that has begun to form on your cyst over time
  • You should see and feel results within the first few days. Keep the bandage on for 5- 7  days  changing the bandage and applying the cayenne  only when necessary during the first week . After this time you can remove bandage and let the healing process continue.on its own.
  • However it is also important not to soak your cyst in hot water for long periods of time, or to put pressure on the affected finger or toe during the healing process. In doing so it may cause it to fill up with fluid again and the steps will have to be repeated .
  • If it is not healed, repeat the steps  if necessary.  Over time you will notice that the cyst begins to contain less fluid and starts to shrink in size and the old scar tissue will be stripped away  in the healing process.
  • By using a myxoid cyst  home treatment, method,it will aid in the healing process and improve ones quality of life with in weeks, for those  who are dealing with pain.due to the cyst.

Miseries Of The Cold And Flu

ID-100111169

At this time of the year comes many troublesome aliments such as cold, flu, sore throats, stuffy noses, and similar miseries, but the only way to combat them is to build an immunity to them.

One way to build resistance against attacks is thorough exercise, preferably done in fresh air which improves the flow of oxygen and promotes good circulation.

Another way is to incorporate wholesome meals and snack on fresh fruit between meals. You should also drink plenty of purified water daily which is a healthful practice to do at any time of the year.

However all too frequently your resistance can  be lowered by stress despite our best efforts, and we soon find our self in the grip of a cold with its  unpleasant symptoms.

Traditionally many herbs such as thyme, anise, and eucalyptus  can be used to counteract acute and chronic respiratory  infections. Liquorice and honey is an old stand by  remedy which helps to soothe coughs and sore throats.

Mixtures of these herbs are available in many health stores, they offer an excellent alternative to cold remedies containing antihistamines or decongestants which often cause drowsiness or other side effects. If you find yourself keeping company with the miseries of the cold and flu then perhaps natures old stand by remedy will work for you.

Dealing With An Eczema Itch

What It Is Eczema

Known medically as dermatitis, eczema produces inflamed patches of red scaly skin that usually shows up on the face, scalp, hands and wrists.  It can  show up on the elbows and behind the knees but can also appear on other parts of the body as well. Eczema is often very itchy and scratching can aggravate it so dealing with an eczema itch is not always easy.

What Causes It.

Eczema is often triggered by an allergy to foods, pollen, animal fur, or other substances It is also likely to run in allergy – prone families and in fact many people who have eczema have or may develop hay fever. People who have eczema have a higher than normal amounts of histamines in their bodies, a chemical that produces allergic reaction when released in the skin.

Some cases occur after contact with certain allergens such as poison ivy , or other poisonous plants, jewellery made with nickel or chrome, dyes, cosmetics, topical medications, and cleaning agents, soaps perfumes and chemicals can also be triggered or aggravated by dry air, too much sun or stress,

Symptoms

Areas of itchy skin that are red , dry scaly , rough or cracked.

Tiny pimple like blisters that sometimes ooze ..Thickened dry patches of skin which is persistent in some cases of eczema

 When To Call The Doctor

If eczema is wide spread or recurrent

If oozing or crusting sores appear it may indicate a bacterial infectionDermatitis

If eczema doesn’t respond  to self -care treatment with in three or four days.

What Else Can You Do

Eliminate any foods that may cause allergic reaction. These often include milk, eggs, shellfish, wheat, chocolate, nuts, and strawberries.

Wear loose-fitting cotton clothing, which is less likely than other fabrics to irritate the skin. Bathe or shower less frequently to keep skin from drying out. Use lukewarm water and avoid deodorants ,bubble

baths, and perfumed products. After bathing, pat your skin dry instead of rubbing it.

Supplements That Can Help

A number of supplements taken internally, are useful in counteracting inflammation and tempering the allergic response. Try a few and  see which ones may work for you. Flaxseed oil and evening of primrose oil contain essential fatty acids that can help relieve itching and inflammation. Vitamin A and E can help combat skin dryness and itchiness. The mineral zinc also aids the healing process and boots the functioning of the immune system and is also necessary for the processing of essential fatty acids. When used long term, zinc should be taken with copper because zinc is known to deplete  the body’s copper reserve.  Grape seed extract is rich in antioxidant substances called flavonoids which inhibit the body’s allergic responses.

When Heel And Foot Pain Creates An Ouch

You’ve more tha80px-AN_OLD_LADY_RESTS_SORE_FEET_AND_SWOLLEN_LEGS_ON_A_BENCH_IN_NICOLLET_MALL_-_NARA_-_551439n likely heard the old saying that when your feet hurt you hurt all

over and you probably know there is no truer words spoken. But it’s a good thing

that when foot and heel pain strike its not something we really have to live with..

If sore heels, aching arches, cramped toes or tender bunions bother you then

here is some at home foot therapy for everyday complaints that will make your

day.

Natures Secret

A tight heel cord also known as the Achilles tendon makes your foot roll inward

or pronate which may cause a bunion to worsen. To prevent this from happening

all it takes is a few calf stretches before and after a walk.

Even If You Don’t Run Buy Running Shoes

If your feet hurt , they need all the support they can get.. So forget about  flimsy canvas shoes, flip flops, moccasins and slippers. Instead buy a running shoe that have a good support. Wear them where ever you can and whenever you can . But if you have to wear those canvas shoes with no support then invest in a pair of arch supports that will fit in all your shoes to give you comfort that will last all day long.

Pick Up With Marbles Or A Pencil

120px-MARBLESTo keep your toes flexible and to strengthen the muscles in your foot pick marbles up with toes and drop them into a bowl a few times a day. Or pick up a pencil with your toes. Corks can also be places between the toes and squeezed giving you the same results in the work out.

Calf Stretches To The Rescue

Tight calf muscles can hobble your feet interfering with their ability to properly

strike the ground.. To keep your calves loose try daily calf stretches. Stand

barefoot facing the wall with arms straight out in front of you with palms flat

against the wall.

Keep your heels on the floor , tuck your butt so that your body remains straight,

bend your elbows and lean into the wall until your cheeks touches the wall. Hold

for as long as you are comfortable.

Rolling Pins Are Not Only For Baking.

You can invigorate your feet by moving them over the rolling pin for a wonderful

massage that takes only a couple of minutes a day while you read a book or

watch TV so keep one handy to relieve those tired feet from aches and pains.

With  proper shoe support, stretches ,exercises, and a massage it may be all that

is required  to keep your feet feeling good and looking good after a long days

work.
